Trust in healthcare AI isn’t just a goal—it’s a necessity. 

During Becker’s Healthcare November webinar, our CEO, Andreas Cleve, joined a distinguished panel of healthcare leaders to explore how trust, governance, and innovation intersect in this rapidly evolving field.

As AI adoption accelerates in healthcare, trust becomes the currency that determines long-term success. The panel focused on how healthcare organizations leverage AI to enhance efficiency, reduce administrative burdens, and improve patient outcomes, all while navigating the inherent risks of implementing such transformative technology.

Balancing innovation with safety

A recurring theme during the panel discussion was the delicate balance between rapid innovation and ensuring safety, a sentiment echoed in Corti’s mission. 

While “safe AI” can be perceived as a barrier to progress, it should instead be seen as a driver of trust and long-term adoption. “Healthcare AI must prioritize patient welfare while maintaining operational efficiency,” Andreas notes. “It’s about building systems clinicians and patients can rely on.

This aligns with Corti’s approach, where safety is not an afterthought but deeply rooted in clinical data as the foundation of AI development. By leveraging real-world healthcare data, we ensure that our AI capability is validated and designed to meet clinical standards.

Key opportunities for AI built for healthcare

Throughout the panel, we got to hear about some areas where AI is making the greatest impact today, such as administrative tasks, ambient scribes, and medical coding. Andreas referred to these as the “base of the pyramid” for AI adoption: areas with lower risk but significant opportunities for efficiency. However, as AI ventures into higher-stakes domains like diagnostics and clinical decision support, the importance of trust, safety, and robust governance becomes even more critical. 

Brad Busick talked about these higher-stakes domains, sharing how his organization leverages AI for robotic surgery and predictive analytics, emphasizing the need for measurable outcomes. Adding on to this, Dr. Roberta Schwartz stressed the importance of maintaining “human-in-the-loop” oversight to catch and correct AI errors before they impact patient care.

Forward-thinking trust

Enabling healthcare providers to deploy AI confidently was a focal point during the webinar. “Trust isn’t just built through compliance; it’s built through reliability,” Andreas emphasized. This is why healthcare requires AI designed to integrate seamlessly into existing workflows, ensuring healthcare professionals can adopt new tools without disruption.

As technology becomes more ingrained in everyday workflows, organizations must focus on scalable solutions and agile governance to manage AI initiatives effectively. Andreas notes, “The next frontier is creating AI systems that are not only innovative but also resilient and adaptable to the unique challenges of healthcare.
