Building a Global Team in an Age of Uncertainty: Our Practical Approach to Diversity and Innovation

At Corti, we are on a daunting mission: to help create a more accessible, fair, and inclusive healthcare sector, where everyone, no matter where they are, has access to medical expertise. It’s both a personal and ambitious challenge that we take very seriously, as each of our 112 employees has their own story with the healthcare system.
The challenge is that healthcare is a highly complex sector, marked by specialization and fragmentation. There is no single solution. That’s why we need the smartest, most driven people who are equally passionate about creating a better healthcare system. But just as importantly, we need people with different perspectives and lived experiences.

One Global Community
That’s one of the many reasons Corti is committed to building a diverse workforce. Today, our team spans 37 nationalities, working across multiple time zones, united by a common mission to transform healthcare.
Our experience shows that our most effective solutions emerge when different viewpoints challenge conventional thinking. To nurture that kind of innovation, we take a practical, systemic approach to inclusion:
- From Nigeria to Ukraine, Israel to Jamaica, we recruit based on merit from a wide range of backgrounds and locations, ensuring we have the best people—regardless of where they live.
- We offer flexible working conditions that accommodate different life situations and cultural backgrounds, so Corti can be a good place to work—whether it’s your first job or your last.
- We measure team wellbeing through regular feedback on belonging and psychological safety, and we make adjustments based on real data.
- We build cross-functional teams where different technical specialties and backgrounds complement each other.
- We hold workshops and training sessions that not only inform but also equip employees to navigate difficult conversations and situations.
- We regularly survey our teams on inclusivity and connection to the company and its mission.
- We run an employee engagement panel that serves as a sounding board for how people are experiencing the culture, with the aim of making Corti the best place to work.
We know we are far from perfect, and we don't pretend to have all the answers, but we are deeply committed to learning, improving, and listening as we go. Inclusion is not a checkbox for us; it's an evolving journey we are humbled to be on.
Diversity remains key for the tech industry
Despite the promise of meritocracy and equal opportunity, the tech industry has struggled with homogeneity for decades. The numbers speak for themselves: globally, women hold just 25 percent of technical roles. This lack of diversity isn’t just a social issue; it affects the quality of our products, creating blind spots in AI systems, healthcare technologies, and user experiences.
In Denmark, where Corti was founded, gender equality is strong in many sectors—but tech is still lagging. Only 23 percent of IT specialists are women, below the EU average.
This industry-wide challenge presents both a responsibility and an opportunity for companies like ours. By intentionally building a diverse team, we’re not only addressing systemic barriers, but we’re also trying to become better at understanding and solving healthcare challenges across cultures, medical systems, and patient populations that more homogeneous teams might overlook.
Although Corti is ahead of many tech companies when it comes to elements like diversity, psychological safety, and creating a caring culture, there is still a long way to go. We’re dedicated to continuous improvement, and we work with our stakeholders and investors to report on ESG quarterly and to listen to data on how we can do better.
We see inclusion as an ongoing practice, not a destination. By bringing together different perspectives, we strengthen both our innovative capacity and our ability to create healthcare solutions that truly work—for everyone, everywhere.
